Back on the bandwagon

I'm a fan of bodybuilding, whether it's the men or the women, I respect the torture that bodybuilders go through to sculpt their bodies into living works of art. No, I am not one of the gullible who believes that all bodybuilders have natural physiques. (That is why there are "natural" bodybuilding events.) However, I will argue anyone down that, whether roid monster or not, these folks bust their asses in the gym.

Now while I am a fitness fanatic, I'm no bodybuilder. I never used steroids and I have no intention to use the stuff. However, I love lifting weights and for a woman, I look like I lift weights...a lot.
At 5'10" and 206LBS, I can run 300 meters in about 63 seconds. My best bench is 215LBS and I can leg press 630LBS. While by most standards, I am in great physical shape, I am not where I want to be as far as my physique is concerned.

For one, I don't eat as clean as I should. Eating clean is eating healthy, preparing foods without added fats and sodium. I can eat clean when I try, but I'm lazy. Let me rephrase that, I don't have time to prepare the meals like I should. Sometimes it's easier to throw things together and scarf it on the run. However, I am close to my heaviest of 238LBS and that isn't good for me.

So, I am heading back to the gym on Wednesday. I am going to utilize technology to help keep me accountable. S&G, while a blog about whatever's on my mind, will also be a place where I'll rant about my forays into the fitness world. I will be using the Daily Burn website and their iPhone app to help keep track of the workouts and nutrition information.

I already know my goal is somewhere between 155 and 165LBS. At that weight, I look extremely toned (versus muscular), which allows me to look more feminine. Yes, for someone who likes to push weight, being feminine is important to me. Now, that doesn't mean I'm a priss. I'm quite the tomboy. I like football, MMA, video games and of course working out. I like slipping on a comfortable pair of sweats and a t-shirt. Now, when I go out, I do like to dress a little more "girly."

Reducing my bodyweight will help me looks smaller, while helping to retain my strength. It also takes additional weight off my knees. I plan to hit my goal in time for my birthday, which is at the end of October, so I have a little over a month. Will I succeed?

Who in the hell knows.
